Spontaneously contacted by Google - complicated process (JournalDuNet) - 04-24.2007
How do you feel about Google’s recruitment process ? Was it more difficult than elsewhere?
The length and lack of coordination between the internal recruitment departments of Google: the first, very competent, based in Paris and the second overloaded and unresponsive, the HR department from the European headquarter in Ireland. It all started with a contact from a sourcing specialist, Fiona (which has already replied to this topic), beginning of September 2006 and continued with its counterparts in Dublin. Finally, after 4 phone interviews (approximately 1 per month) as my profile was not a perfect match with the second job opportunity that I was offered (the first was finally filled) and a plane ticket from Canada was required to invite me, I was courteously thanked. However, between the 3rd and 4th interview, I was told that I would attend appointments to EMEA’s Office as a next move. A mystery a bit frustrating …
What exercises have you experienced?
I had 4 phone interviews in English with the following contacts:
1 – Specialist « sourcing » – Paris
2 – HR Department – European Headquarters (Dublin)
3 – International Online Sales Manager
4 – Director, Online Sales & Operations.
Conventional exercises such as role plays, background questions, etc.
What position were you applying for? Which level did you reach?
Two opportunities as follows:
1 – Regional manager position
2 – Online Sales and Operations Manager
